He carves it from copal wood and hand paints its scales with a combination of linear and geometric patterns in bright yellow, spring green, and blue against a flame orange background. Claudio learned to craft alebrijes as a young child from his mother. His work embodies her motto bring the alebrijes to life by painting them with love and care.
